Better Murals and Design Plank are one team — custom mural work, interior and exterior design, and complete space transformations, delivered start to finish across Northern California.
~WHO WE ARE ~
We don't have a house style. We have yours.
Better Murals started with a ladder, a box of brushes, and a willingness to paint whatever anyone asked for. Twenty-five years and more than a thousand finished jobs later, that hasn't changed.
Robert Lindsey has painted vineyards across dining rooms, botanicals through nurseries, photorealistic skylines in lobbies, and a long list of things that didn't have a name until somebody described them out loud. Homes, restaurants, coffee shops, offices, kids' rooms — interior and exterior, any surface, any scale.
Design Plank grew out of that work. Clients kept asking what else could change: the color, the finish, the lighting, the furniture, the shape of the whole room. So we started handling that too — interior and exterior design, custom wall finishes, furniture design, and full space planning.
Today it's a two-person shop based in Sacramento, working across Northern California. Robert paints and designs. His son Aiden handles the build side and everything behind the scenes. You deal with us directly, start to finish — no account manager, no subcontracted crew showing up instead.

THE PROCESS
From a rough idea to a finished wall.
One
You describe it
A photo, a Pinterest board, a color you like, or just a sentence about the feeling you're after. Nothing needs to be figured out yet — that's our part.
Two
We walk the space
We look at the wall, the light, and what's around it, then come back with a concept, a timeline, and a price. You'll know exactly what you're getting before anyone opens paint.
Three
We paint it
We prep, protect, and work clean, checking in as it comes together so nothing is a surprise at the end. When we leave, the room is finished — not just painted.
